Surgical Portfolio

Wisdom Tooth Surgery
Wisdom Tooth Surgery

Extraction of impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth.

Accomplishments
  • Extraction: Wisdom tooth surgery involves the removal of impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth.
  • Anesthesia: Patients receive local anesthesia or sedation to ensure a pain-free procedure.
  • Incision and Removal: The surgeon makes an incision, removes the tooth, and stitches the wound.
  • Recovery: Aftercare includes rest, pain management, and following post-operative instructions.
Dental Implants
Dental Implants

Titanium post placement, bone fusion, abutment, and crown attachment.

Accomplishments
  • Implant Placement: Surgically place a titanium post (implant) into the jawbone, serving as an artificial tooth root.
  • Osseointegration: Allow bone fusion with the implant over several months for a strong bond.
  • Abutment Attachment: Attach an abutment to the implant, protruding above the gumline for crown placement.
  • Crown Placement: Secure a custom-made dental crown to the abutment, mimicking a natural tooth.
Condylar Fracture Surgery
Condylar Fracture Surgery

Individualized surgical treatment based on fracture.

Accomplishments
  • Diagnosis and Assessment:Condyle fractures are diagnosed through clinical examination and radiological assessment, with extracapsular condylar fractures being common.
  • Diagnosis and Assessment:Surgical treatment involves internal stabilization using fine screws and plates, and surgery can be delayed if necessary.
  • Surgical Techniques:Various techniques include osteosynthesis, mini-systems with rigid fixation, and pin insertion through cutaneous approaches.
  • Considerations: Individualized management based on fracture type, patient age, and close postoperative care are crucial.

Pediatric Fracture Management

Customized treatment for pediatric fractures.

Accomplishments
  • Diagnosis and Assessment:Pediatric fractures require careful evaluation, considering growth plates and age-specific factors. Radiological assessment helps determine fracture type and alignment.
  • Treatment Options:Non-surgical management (casting, splinting) is preferred for stable fractures. Surgical intervention (internal fixation, external fixation) may be necessary for displaced or unstable fractures.
  • Growth Considerations:Pediatric bones have remarkable healing capacity due to active growth. Fractures near growth plates require precise reduction to avoid growth disturbances.
  • Rehabilitation and Follow-up:Post-fracture rehabilitation focuses on restoring function and preventing stiffness. Regular follow-up ensures proper healing and growth monitoring.
Space Infection Surgery
Space Infection Surgery

Diagnosis, antibiotics, drainage, care.

Accomplishments
  • Diagnosis and Assessment:Accurate diagnosis involves clinical examination and imaging (CT, MRI), identifying involved spaces and assessing severity.
  • Antibiotics and Drainage:Broad-spectrum antibiotics target common pathogens, while surgical drainage (I&D) is essential for localized or spreading infections.
  • Airway Considerations:Evaluate airway patency, risk of compromise, and consider tracheostomy or intubation in severe cases.
  • Postoperative Care and Follow-up:Focus on wound care, regular follow-up, and collaboration with specialists as needed.

Maxillary Osteomyelitis

Prompt diagnosis, surgery, and antibiotics are crucial for maxillary osteomyelitis.

Accomplishments
  • Definition and Causes:Infection of the upper jawbone (maxilla) caused by bacteria or fungi spreading from nearby tissues or bloodstream.
  • Symptoms:Fever, severe bone pain, swelling, redness, and discharge near the infected area.
  • Treatment:Surgical intervention (sequestrectomy, debridement), antibiotics, and adjunct therapies.
  • Complications and Prognosis:Early treatment prevents permanent bone loss and tissue damage.
Facial Trauma
Facial Trauma

Facial trauma involves injuries to the face or jaw, often requiring surgical intervention.

Accomplishments
  • Purpose: Facial trauma surgery aims to repair injuries to the face or jaw. It involves stopping bleeding, repairing damaged facial tissue, and setting broken bones. Common causes of facial trauma include motor vehicle collisions, sports injuries, falls, and violence.
  • Postoperative Recovery:After facial trauma surgery, patients may experience soreness for a week or two. Eating might be challenging during this period. Stitches may be required for wounds on the face, jaw, or mouth.
  • Functional Restoration: The goals of facial trauma treatment are to restore normal facial functions, including focusing, blinking, smiling, chewing, speaking, and swallowing. Plastic and reconstructive surgery optimize both function and appearance.
Cyst Enucleation
Cyst Enucleation

Surgical method for complete cyst removal, minimizing recurrence.

Accomplishments
  • Purpose: Enucleation is a surgical method used to treat cysts. It involves the complete removal of the cystic capsule, reducing the risk of recurrence.
  • Technique: During enucleation, a window is created in the cystic roof, followed by aspiration and evacuation of cystic contents. The cystic lumen is then packed with a wetted ribbon gauze to stabilize the base and reduce the chances of cyst perforation.
  • Advantages: Enucleation ensures in toto removal of cysts, minimizing the risk of recurrence. Modifications may be proposed to enhance the procedure.
  • Clinical Application: Enucleation is commonly used for treating odontogenic cysts and other benign oral and maxillofacial pathologies.
Tumour Exision
Tumour Excision

Surgical removal of jaw tumors, preserving function and aesthetics.

Accomplishments
  • Purpose: Jaw tumor excision is a surgical procedure to remove tumors affecting the jaw. These tumors can originate from the jaw itself or spread from the mouth or oral cavity. The primary goal is complete tumor removal while preserving function and aesthetics.
  • Procedure: During surgery, the surgeon removes the tumor, which may involve taking out nearby teeth, tissue, and parts of the jawbone. The excised tissue is sent to the lab for examination. A pathologist provides a diagnosis during the procedure, allowing immediate action based on the findings.
  • Clinical Application: Jaw tumor excision is essential for both benign and malignant tumors. Benign tumors, such as ameloblastomas and central giant cell granulomas, can still cause significant swelling and tooth displacement. Malignant tumors require prompt treatment to prevent spread to other body parts.
  • Benefits: Excision ensures accurate diagnosis, reduces pain, and minimizes the risk of recurrence. Reconstruction techniques, such as using bone from the fibula, help restore jaw function and appearance.
